Stitches the selected pages from top to bottom into one tall image. Pages of different widths are centered on the widest page. A higher resolution gives a sharper result but a bigger file and longer processing time.

Remove the password from an encrypted PDF first. Processing focuses on page content, so bookmarks, attachments, forms and signatures may not be preserved. Keep the original and check the result.

About PDF to Long Image

This tool stacks PDF pages top to bottom into a single PNG or JPEG. A PDF attachment in a chat app has to be downloaded and opened; a long image scrolls right inside the conversation, which is why people use it for menus, flyers, short reports and event schedules.

You pick a scale of 0.75, 1, 1.5, 2 or 3. At scale 1 each PDF point becomes one pixel, so an A4 page renders at about 596 × 842 px and a US Letter page at 612 × 792 px. The gap between pages can be 0–200 px and JPEG quality 10–100. Transparent areas are filled with white.

The 16,384-pixel ceiling

Browser canvases have a practical size limit. Past it, saving can silently fail or produce a blank file, so the tool checks before it starts: if either side of the result would exceed 16,384 px, or the total would exceed 100 million pixels, it stops and asks you to use fewer pages or a lower scale.

At scale 2 an A4 page is about 1,684 px tall, so nine pages is the maximum. At 1.5 (about 1,263 px) you can fit twelve, and at scale 1 nineteen. For longer documents, split the range — 1-9, 10-18 and so on — and send several images.

Mixed page sizes and phone screens

The output width follows the widest page. One landscape table in a portrait report widens the whole image to that page’s width, and every portrait page gets white bands on both sides. On a phone the image is shrunk to screen width, so the portrait pages end up with smaller text. Leaving the landscape page out, or exporting it separately, reads better.

Messaging apps and social networks often recompress uploads or downscale very long images, and each service does it differently. If the document has small body text, fewer pages per image survives that better than one very tall file.

Worked examples

A 10-page A4 report at 2×

Input
10 portrait A4 pages, scale 2, gap 20 px, PNG
Output
Error: the resulting image is too large

Height would be 1,684 × 10 + 20 × 9 = 17,020 px, over the 16,384 px limit. Dropping to scale 1.5 gives 1,263 × 10 + 180 = 12,810 px, which works. To keep 2×, export pages 1-9 and page 10 as two images.

How to use it

  1. Open the PDF and enter a page range such as 1-3, 5 (leave empty for all pages).
  2. Choose the scale, the gap between pages, PNG or JPEG and the JPEG quality.
  3. Check the reported width × height in pixels and download the image.

Frequently asked questions

Should I pick PNG or JPEG?

For text and line art, PNG keeps letter edges clean. For photo-heavy pages, JPEG at quality 80–90 is far smaller and the difference is hard to see.

Can pages be joined side by side?

No, only vertically. For a grid of pages, use the PDF contact sheet tool.

Can the recipient copy text from the image?

No. The result is pixels, so text can’t be selected or searched. Send the PDF too if someone needs the actual text.
